To Our Orthodontic Family:
As our office reopens, you may be wondering what precautions we are taking to ensure your safety. Our office has always been conscientious about preventing the spread of diseases. During the COVID-19 crisis and going forward, from treatment and reception area disinfection to the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), the safety of patients and staff members continues to be of utmost importance.
Before, during and after treatment:
Rest assured that we have always practiced strict universal precautions. Precautions have always included the use of PPE, sterile instruments and devices, as well as clean and disinfected environmental surfaces.
Frequently touched surfaces such as door handles, chairs, and desks are now cleaned and disinfected even more often. Other objects that may be difficult to disinfect, such as magazines, brochures and other reading material, and our refreshment station, are being removed all together.
We will also ask you to brush and floss your teeth at home prior to your appointment and to wear a mask except for when your treatment is being performed.
The process may look a little different:
Your check-in will involve a few extra steps to help ensure the safety of you, other patients, and staff. For instance, the process will now include screening and triage questions, waiting in your vehicle versus the reception area, checking your temperature and asking that you follow social distancing and infection control etiquette. We recommend against bringing companions to appointments, unless necessary. If companions do accompany patients, they will also be screened during patient check-in and asked to wear a mask.
During your appointment, there will be fewer patients in the office at one time to promote social distancing. If you have any questions or concerns, your orthodontic team is available to provide answers.
